The Housing GSO Plan is designed to guide the City of Greensboro’s public investments in affordable housing over the next 10 years. In 2016, the City dedicated $25 million in voter-approved local housing bond funds for affordable housing and neighborhood reinvestment programs. Housing GSO describes how to refocus the remaining bond funds, along with existing federal and new local funding, to effectively address existing housing challenges. The plan is organized around four goals: Affordable Rental Housing, Neighborhood Reinvestment, Access to Homeownership, and Supportive Housing. Successful implementation of Housing GSO will require public awareness of Housing GSO and its ambitious goals. For this month’s CHCS Housing Hangout we will explore the Housing GSO plan and several programs of the Greensboro Neighborhood Development Department with:
- Cynthia Blue, Housing Services Division Manager;
- Elizabeth Danley, Homelessness Prevention Program Coordinator;
- Sonyé Randolph, Housing Rehabilitation Administrator;
- Troy Powell, Code Compliance Division Manager; and
- Sofia Crisp, Executive Director of Housing Consultants Group.
